The "Add-on S for CloneApp" executable is being flagged by my antivirus software.  Just figured you should know!

I can put your mind at ease. This is a false positive :)

I like it! Can you add an option to add winapp2.ini to the program ? :D that would be awesome.

Cleanmgr+ brings an own Plug-in Engine for creating custom cleaners. CCleaner is crowded with cleaners and not everyone knows what they are doing. First and foremost, it is planned to replace the Microsoft Disk Cleanup 1:1 Advanced users are left open to expand the functionality as desired :) But who knows what will happen in the future.

Kudos to some fine app development.

I've given the cleanmgr+ app a whirl - found some aesthetic issues:

1) If the cleanmgr+ app is started for the first time, the windowed screen cuts off words at the bottom if you enable Show Description in settings

2) In same windowed mode, slicking preview cuts off text as well.

3) Vivaldi browser name is misspelled (+ more menu).

Keep up the good work, though, this is a good start!

Hi John,

thanks for your kind words and suggestions. I've included the fixes in beta 0.2.0 and many more :)

I stumbled across this excellent program, and decided to give it a try, since I was moving to a new computer. Most of the bundled plugins worked like a charm. Being a software developer I use a lot of not-so-mainstream software that are not currently supported by CloneApp, so I wrote a bunch of plugins for them. What is the process of getting these new plugins integrated in the main distribution of CloneApp?

.. and you are right. GitHub would be great. I would like to start on it for a long time but unfortunately I do not get it in time :)

Hi Dennis,

thank your very much for your comment. I'm glad you like it as a like-minded people (software dev) :P . Please send me the Plug-ins via Mail ( or use the upload function in the Community comment section.

Have a good day

Or, at the very least, a platform to share plugins (like other software have) in forums that other users can make use of...

A GitHub page for this would be fantastic

This is a brilliant app but I am struggling with usage: I have saved my Outlook settings - changed the custom ribbon and then restored to confirm that all is working correctly. However, the custom changes remained - I expected the original (saved) setup to be restored. Have I misunderstood or done something wrong. Any advice appreciated.

Hi Peter,

thanks for using CloneApp. The Outlook custom ribbon settings are not backed up. I'm not sure where these are store. @dennislundberg Are you sure? I'll come back to it agaian when I have time

All the best

If you are using Outlook to connect to an Exchange server, then some of the settings are stored in Exchange. I'm not sure if this includes the ribbon though.

I am a software developer with a complex SOHO environment.
I have three workstations and an HP server (rack) for testing and development.
I have around 16 Host OS SSDs - and 3 core images that I use for development,
besides numerous server images.

Your application is perfect in concept, but runs into problems because my
EXE files are on drives C, D, E - and my data drives are F: and beyond.

I wanted to put Cloneapp 'data files' on my F: Drive, so the backups, logs
and profiles are on in one place, and my 12 user accounts (both admin
and regular user) - per OS instance (Host OS) - can have separate AppData
spaces - and a joint 'shared' data space.

I just tested your app (latest version - 2019.01.15) - and it had some issues
with Cloneapp settings - being in different directory locations (both drive
letter and path). I read the PDF user manual - and am pretty sure I'm finding

Do registered users, with accounts, have a way to debug beta releases, report
bugs and feature failures - and get timely response and 'tester release' EXEs?

Nobody has a product like yours that I know of (I've been using Snapfiles since
it first came online - and have tons of useful utilities).

I have AOMEI, DIskGenuis, MiniTool, Macrorit and other disk apps, including
QNAP NAS and backup stuff.

But all of them together do not equal the potential in your app (for my
software development specific set of use cases).

Is there a beta release process in your dev ops?

Hi Shawn,

thank you for your great comment. To answer your question finally regarding the beta release process, I have to say no. Maybe GitHub could be great platform for that. But I do not have the time to do that right now.

Bets regards to you from Germany

Please check "Windows Mediaplayer.plg".
The registry entries are saved without errors, but for the backup of the database and the playlists you need in my opinion and tests  the following command line (for Windows 10):
File1=BackupFolder|%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player

Hi Holger,

you are right. The Songs data, Database etc. are stored in "%LocalAppData% and NOT %AppData%.
Plug-in will be updated.

Merry Christmas to you!

Great software, but I have a small problem with my self-created plg file for the Microsoft Weather app:
If I use a wildcard (*) in the app name, no backup will be performed.

Hi Holger,

I've released yesterday a new tool and Upgrad for CloneApp, called CloneApp UA. It's a small, portable and standalone program ONLY for UWP/Universal apps. It will backup the apps data of Modern UI apps.

Thank you very much for your respons!
Being able to use wildcards in paths in one of the next CloneApp-Versions would be great!
It opens up the possibility of saving and restore the settings of any Windows-App even if Microsoft changes the version number of an app in the path "%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Packages\".

Hello Holger,

a recursive search with wildcards (*) inside a path e.g. %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.BingWeather*\Settings is currently not possible. This would be possible %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.BingWeather_8wekyb3d8bbwe\Settings\settings*
I will think about adding such a feature in a upcoming Version of CloneApp. You can create a custom Variable (see Docu, Chapter 3.2 Supported Variables) to make your job easier.
